Royal Resorts - Developer Overview

The Royal Resorts is one of the leading vacation ownership companies in the Caribbean and a pioneer in the Mexican resort of Cancún, where it is one of the city's three largest employers with a work force of over 2,700.

The company was founded in 1975, its first resort opened in 1977, and there are now five Royal Resorts in Cancún offering 1,127 luxury two-bedroom villas and a variety of fine club services.

Expansion continues, and in December 2001, the company opened a resort on the island of Curaçao in the Netherlands Antilles; it also manages properties on St. Maarten and in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico.

The Royal Resorts currently has more than 67,000 members and surveys record a 98% member satisfaction rate, the highest rating registered by any resort in the world. Another important indicator is provided by an independent organization called the Timeshare Users Group (TUG). TUG members have voted four of the Royal Resorts into the World's Top Ten Resorts on the TUG Web site.

The Royal Resorts has also received the coveted Five Star Award annually from Interval International since the award's inception in 1984 and in 2002, won the prestigious ARDA (American Resort Developers Association) Ace Employer Award, beating a field of world-class competitors.
